I REALLY NEED A FREE VISIT. HOW DO I GET ONE?
Look for ads in local newspapers for dates, times, and locations.
Unfortunately, this site does not have the capability to search for existing VHC Today programs by location at this time. If you have not heard of a VHC Today program in your area, see if a local doctor is interested in starting one and refer them to this site.
WHEN IS THIS SERVICE AVAILABLE?
It depends. There may or may not be a VHC Today program in your area.
If a doctor in your community is holding VHC Today practice hours, those hours & location should be in local newspapers. Remember, each VHC Today program is different as each one operates as an extension of a doctor's existing practice with the help of volunteers, and is subject to change.
If there is not one in your area, refer a doctor you know to this site so they can start their own VHC Today program.
NOTE: Please make sure you have the right date, time and place; the last thing a VHC Today program wants to do is add difficulty to your life.
HOW WILL I BE TREATED?
Medical Treatment: You will receive the same medical care paying/insured patients receive; the only difference is everyone involved is volunteering their time.
Personal Treatment: We strive to recognize this simple truth: If you truly need VHC Today care, you are more likely to have immediate health concerns than those with insurance. One of VHC Today’s central goals is to treat you with the utmost respect. If you need further care, we will refer you to local resources.
ARE THERE LIMITS TO WHAT CONDITIONS WE CAN TREAT?
Unfortunately, you probably know there are.
Chronic Conditions: Our time constraints do not allow us to treat chronic issues requiring regular or frequent visits. But do not despair, your VHC Today visit is free. We will also do what we can during your visit. We will refer you to local sources to assist you in identifying government programs you may qualify for or less expensive sliding scale clinics.
Non-Emergency Pain Relief: Narcotics are rarely prescribed except in the case of an acute injury.
WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE MY VHC TODAY VISIT BETTER?
Before your visit, please think about:
Symptoms: Why you are here and what you think is wrong. You live with yourself 24/7 – help us in providing you with the best care possible!
Past Treatments: For current and past health issues requiring care.
Current Medications: Both over the counter and prescription medications you currently or have recently taken.
Past Medications: This helps us know what/why/how past medications worked for you, and will help us better diagnose current problems.
What Did Not Work: Please let us know if any past treatments and/or medications did not work.
… And be ready to provide this information to the attending doctor and staff as our time is limited and we want to help as many in need as we can.
WHAT ABOUT MEDICATIONS AND SUPPLIES?
Remember, each doctor’s VHC Today program is their own, made possible thru volunteers and donated supplies. Sample medications and supplies will vary. Significant hard cost items provided: E.g., casts, splints, injections, etc. will be offered at cost plus 10% [ten percent].
